My name is Mark Davies and I am a doctoral researcher at the Univeristy of Keele's Institute for Life Course Studies - although I live and work in Cheltenham.
I am currently carrying out research for my PhD which is based on family photographs.
I've spent the last few days reading various blogs where people have included their family photographs as I am hoping to interview people via email, telephone or in person about blogging - especially blogs that cover aspects of family life.
I was hoping that you might be willing to participate in my research in some way - as having read your blog I find many aspects of it of great interest to me because it touches on areas that are quite central to my project.
The main thing that drew my attention to your blog though, was because of what you have said in the sub-title as the blog being mostly for the benefit of your family - as a way of involving them in your lives. This is of enormous interest to me as one of the things I am looking at in my project is about photographs being used as a form of communication within families.
I am very conscious about the nature of contacting people on the Internet this way so I have created a blog entry for myself that includes my photograph, university email address, and a brief introduction to my project in the hope that it might reassure people that it is all above board.
It would be a real privilege (and of great benefit to my project) to be able to discuss your blog with you, so I was hoping that you might be able to take the time to look at my short blog which is called "Moving Images Research Project" to see if you would be happy to take part in some way.
I appreciate that this is probably a somewhat unusual request to receive on your blog, but I hope that my own blog might reassure you of the genuine nature for the reasons why I have contacted you.
Dan - Dad, 36, shop owner and photography enthusiast. Sings falcetto like Justin Hawkins from The Darkness!
Bree - Mum, 31, heavy metal freak and belly dancing fanatic. Manages somehow to be a health freak and remain fat.
Jimmy - first born son, age 13, attends school, loves performing and being the centre of attention, very good looking with a personality to match.
Annabelle - older daughter, age 12, beautiful and feminine, loves reading, and listening to Nightwish.
Barnyard - age 5, insists his blog name is Barnyard although I shorten it (against his will) to Barney. Also likes to be known as 'Slice' (said like Donkey from Shrek). Currently into the power rangers and is a mad hama bead enthusiast.
Grace - born in December, our little surprise bundle of joy - with the most amazing hair!
